While in Flying Squirrel form, the player's on-land spin-jump height has slightly slower vertical deceleration, and is doubled, being almost equivalent to a full running jump. Players in Flying Squirrel form can also cling to walls for some time before sliding down them. After the burst, players are unable to glide and will float down slowly until they hit the ground or stomp on an enemy. It allows them to glide by holding while airborne, and get an upwards burst by pressing / / / whilst airborne. When collected, players become their Flying Squirrel form. Sometimes, it jumps three tiles up instead. Most of the time, it jumps one tile up and increases its speed if it's moving slowly. In the Night Ground Course Theme, Super Acorns will randomly jump and roll. Super Acorns normally roll around, behaving similarly to the Super Mushroom in terms of movement. Balloon players cannot use wearables, dismounting rides and vehicles and losing helmets when a Power Balloon is collected. Although the player is visually wider, the player's hitbox is 1×1 while in Balloon form. Tilting will point the player and move them slowly in that direction, and holding or will cause the player to move faster in the direction they're facing. In this mode, players are consistently airborne, though they are still able to enter Warp Doors. When collected, players transform into their Balloon form.

In the Night Ground Course Theme, Power Balloons will spin around counterclockwise and move to the right.

In their Frog form, players can run across water when the P-Meter is full and they are holding an item.

The player's height is slightly reduced while idle, and on-land movement has been replaced by a series of short hops which raise the player's elevation slightly each time but ultimately make them slower than normal. In addition, players can now jump slightly higher than before. On land, the Frog Suit greatly alters player movement, with airborne acceleration increased. Interactive objects such ? Blocks, ON/OFF Switches and POW Blocks can also be activated by the player via this in-water propulsion. When collected, players become their Frog forms, giving them the ability to use 8-way direction inputs whilst swimming to propel their character in provided directions, greatly increasing in-water mobility. In the Night Ground Course Theme, Frog Suits change direction randomly. Sounds for performing certain actions also change such as collecting a Super Mushroom while already powered up, getting an extra life, dying or clearing a course.įrog Suits bounce around like Super Stars. When in SMB2 form, the music will change. However, it is not possible to drop items while in SMB2 form. This is also the only mode where players can crouch while holding entities. In the Snow Course Theme, players can pick up Snowballs out of the ground and throw them as well. Instead of stomping enemies, SMB2 players can stand on enemies (effectively treating them as platforms), and then use + buttons to pick enemies up and throw them diagonally downward by releasing. When collected, it turns characters into their SMB2 forms. In the Night Ground Course Theme, SMB2 Mushrooms will jump in sync with players. SMB2 Mushrooms will move to the right and only turn around once they reach a wall or horizontal Trampoline.
